Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?
We are located in Country Day Plaza in Fort Worth, 5512 Bellaire Drive South at Bryant Irvin. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:30pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm.

What do you serve at the bakery?
Our menu varies day to day. Our pastry case always has cupcakes, cookies, brownies and bars, sweet and savory scones, croissants, and a selection of cakes and other pastry items items such as tarts and chocolate mousse.  Some items sell out very quickly, especially our Gluten-free and vegan goodies. You may special order bakery items from our menu that we don't carry on a daily basis. We also offer Catering trays (sweet and savory options). It's a good idea to call ahead if you need a large quantity of cupcakes or bars as these tend to sell out quickly.

You have an art gallery?
Yes, we have a gallery space that features rotating exhibits. We encourage local artists to submit samples of work for consideration. We also have a schedule of evening activities that includes dramatic readings of plays, short stories and poetry.

Do you do Gluten-Free Cakes?
Yes. We offer Gluten-Free items in our pastry every day (these sell out quickly as we only bake them first thing in the morning before gluten-containing flour is in use) and we also do gluten-free custom cakes and bakery cakes. Please see the Menu page for more details on our gluten free offerings, or email us and we'll send you PDF version of our GF menu.

Do you offer Vegan items?
Yes, we make vegan cupcakes and bakery cakes as well as vegan muffins. We offer at least one vegan item available everyday, with additional options available by special order.

I'm diabetic, do you have anything for me?
Catherine is currently in development on a line of Diabetic-friendly bakery items. If you would like to be notified of the launch, please email us through the contact page.

How do I schedule a custom cake consultation and tasting?
If you're in the "window shopping" phase of planning, you may stop by the bakery during normal business hours to pick up a Wedding Packet or Custom Cake Packet (or email us and we'll send you the PDF version). The packet contains all the basic info you'll need to determine if we're right for your event. You may also purchase a Tasting Box which contains four of our most popular flavor combinations (cost is $15 which is applied to your contract if you book your cake with us. If you've already secured your spot on our calemdar with the $100 deposit your Tasting Box is free). Please allow us 48 hours notice to prepare your Tasting Box. If you're further along in the process and want to schedule a consult, we have several tasting/consultation days each month, please call the bakery for this month's schedule. Appointments require a $15 non-refundable deposit which is applied to your contract if you choose to book your cake with us (this includes your Tasting Box).  Please keep in mind that we accept a limited number of custom cake orders and that a $100 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your slot on our calendar.

How do I place a custom cake order?
We accept a limited number of custom cake orders so booking early (3-9 months for weddings) is a good idea, although it never hurts to call or email to see if we have an opening. Email is a great way to get things started but you can also call or stop by the bakery. Just call or email us with your details: name, email address, phone numbers, date and time of event, estimated guest count, etc. and we'll let you know if we have a slot available on our calendar. Then you'll sign a deposit contract and pay your $100 deposit to hold your date. After we receive your deposit we'll schedule your consultation appointment or we'll communicate via phone/email to work out the details for smaller orders.

How much do your custom cakes cost?
Cake prices are based on a number of factors including size, number of servings, type of icing and filling, level of design work, complexity of construction, etc. Our pricing reflects the use of pure, fresh, preservative-free ingredients including unbleached flour, organic cane sugar, fresh whole eggs, European-style butter, Belgian chocolate, Tahitian Vanilla, and fresh cream. I do not use cake mixes, pre-made frostings, stabilizers, or highly extracted flavorings. Generally speaking, buttercream iced cakes will start at $3 per serving, fondant and ganache at $5 per serving, and chocolate wrap at $7 per serving. This is a starting point to which we add the details of design and decoration as well as necessary supporting materials, optional accessories/equipment, delivery charges, etc. I find that most clients choose cakes in the $4 to $8 per serving range. Our average wedding cake (figuring 150 people) runs $600 to $1200. We do have a minimum order of $150 for each custom cake (3-Dimensional cakes have a $250 minimum).

What is your payment policy for custom cakes?
The $100 non-refundable deposit holds your date and is applied toward your total contract. After we have worked together to design your cake(s) we'll send you a comprehensive contract with all the details about your cake(s) and a payment schedule. 50% of the total contract is due at that time, with the remaining 50% (less the deposit) due 14 days before the event. Payments may be made by cash, check or credit card (MasterCard, Visa, Discover). For last minute orders (less than 30 days notice) the full contract price must be paid in advance.

I've heard that cupcakes are the new "it" thing. Can you do cupcakes for my party? How about a cupcake tower?
Cupcakes are the latest craze, and yes, we love doing cupcakes for specail occasions. Cupcake towers are particularly fun, employing a custom made stand to achieve the look of a stacked cake. Sometimes we'll add a small 6 inch cake to the top tier to create a more finished appearance. For children's parties we offer Party Packs, a do-it-yourself kit for kids to frost and decorate their own cupcake masterpieces!

Do you include the top tier of the wedding cake for me to freeze for my first anniversary?
No, we do not. Our cakes are made from scratch with no preservatives. We do not recommend freezing one of our cakes for more than 4 weeks, any longer than that and it's sure to disappoint. Instead, we will bake the bride and groom a fresh 6" cake for their first anniversary. Just add $45 to your contract (cakes over $1000 receive a free Anniversary Cake)and give us a call 2 weeks before your anniversary to pick your flavors. This is cheaper than adding a tier to your decorated cake on the wedding day and will taste so much better!

Do you deliver?
Yes, in fact, most of  our custom cakes must be delivered to insure they arrive in one piece! We will deliver and set up your cake at the venue but we do not cut or serve the cake, not do we provide plates, napkins, etc. for serving. You will need to make arrangements with your caterer or coordinator for these services/items. Other bakery items and box lunches can be delivered as well. Delivery charges apply for all items.

Do you ship your cakes?
At this time, no.
